Planning a family gathering for Memorial Day?

You should be in good shape for that -- depending on the size of your gathering and the social distancing methods you take.

Lyon County Pubilc Health Public Information Officer Vici Smith had that information on KVOE's Newsmaker segment Friday.

The current Memorial Day forecast calls for a high chance of rain.

Smith also said you'll need a lot of soap or other disinfectants, and it's also best not to have a buffet-style or self-serve-style food station if you're planning a meal. Contact surfaces like tables, doorknobs and faucets will need frequent cleaning.

Smith says park gatherings are allowed, and social distancing is again required. Travel out of state is also allowed, but you'll need to look over the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's list of states needing an automatic 14-day quarantine period first.
