Newman Regional Health has opened a new Respiratory Clinic to help the community's COVID-19 response.

The clinic will occupy the space used by Newman ExpressCare as part of the hospital's emergency department complex. Hours are 8 am to noon weekdays by appointment only. ExpressCare will then operate as normal after the clinic closes, with hours from 1-9 pm weekdays and 10 am to 6 pm weekends.

Patients must call their provider's office for a verbal health screening. The provider will then schedule an appointment. Once at the clinic, patients will receive a mask. Only the patient will be allowed inside, although patients need to call ahead if they cannot come alone. One parent or guardian will be allowed with child appointments.

The clinic, which has a special air ventilation and UV filtration system, will offer care for patients with respiratory conditions. It also lets patients get diagnosed, treated and tested in a separate location due to high-restriction guidelines that a lot of medical offices now have in place.

More information is available by calling your health care provider or by calling 343-7828.
