Three Coffey County residents were brought to Emporia for medical treatment after a three-vehicle crash in north-central Coffey County on Sunday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pickup, minivan and passenger car were all northbound on US Highway 75 when they collided at 22nd Road, almost directly between BETO Junction and New Strawn, shortly before 3:45 pm. The minivan, driven by 43-year-old Michelle Charbonneau of Lebo, and the car, driven by 19-year-old Hayley Cole of Olpe, were both stopped as a fourth vehicle turned in front of them. The driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Aaron Cole of Olpe, couldn't stop and went into a ditch as an evasive maneuver. However, Charbonneau also went into the ditch to try to stay out of Cole's way.

Aaron Cole's truck hit Charbonneau's minivan in the rear and pushed it across the intersection. Hayley Cole's car was then hit by Aaron Cole's trailer, which rolled several times afterward.

Charbonneau and two passengers, 42-year-old Eric Charbonneau and 17-year-old Rebekah Charbonneau, were all taken to Newman Regional Health despite apparently minor injuries. None of the five other people involved were hurt.
