The man accused of killing a former Emporia woman last summer has a new date in court.

Dylan Barber will have a motion to withdraw his plea heard June 28 in Sedgwick County District Court.

Barber allegedly stabbed 22-year-old Mackenzie Payne to death in late June. Barber pleaded to first-degree murder in February, at which time charges of criminal threat and criminal in possession of a weapon were dropped. He was originally set for sentencing this upcoming Tuesday before filing his current motion earlier this month.

Payne had graduated from Emporia High School in 2013. She was preparing for medical school at the University of Kansas when she was killed.
