The Kentucky Headhunters made their first concert appearance in Emporia on Thursday night, and they did not disappoint.

The Headhunters were one of the signature events at the Lyon County Fair this year, playing some of their best-known tunes like "Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine," "Dumas Walker" and "Oh Lonesome Me," and also working in some music from the group's most recent studio album, On Safari.

Originally starting in the 1960s as Itchy Brother, the Headhunters saw their music career take off in the 1980s with a series of hits.

The fair, meanwhile, is fast approaching the finish. The truck and tractor pull is the featured event at the grandstand Friday, starting at 7 pm. The demolition derby will close down the fair at 7 pm Saturday. The carnival also continues from 6-10 pm both nights.
