The Coffey County Housing Authority is receiving a federal grant to help improve rural housing.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is granting $25,000 to Coffey County to help make housing repairs and improve conditions for limited-income rural residents.
Funds are being provided through the Rural Development Housing Preservation grant program. They go first to local governments, public agencies and non-profit organizations. These groups then pass along the grants to homeowners and landlords. Projects can include general repairs or improvements to make housing handicapped-accessible.
