Message of hope coming to Albert Taylor Hall

The founder of a non-profit group fighting depression and a noted actress from the "Twilight" series of movies will be at Emporia State University for a special presentation Wednesday night.

Jamie Tworkowski will bring the story and message of "To Write Love on Her Arms" to Albert Taylor Hall for a 7 pm performance. Joining Tworkowski will be Julia Jones, best known as Leah Clearwater in the "Twilight" saga.

Tworkowski founded "To Write Love on Her Arms" in 2006 after learning two of three people with depression do not get the help they need -- and the third-leading cause of death among 18-to-24-year-olds is suicide. The non-profit began as an attempt to tell the story of a friend of Tworkowski's in need of treatment and rapidly became an Internet sensation, with bands like Switchfoot, Anberlin and Paramore offering support.

The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 pm. For information, go online to www.twloha.com.
