Abundant Harvest has seen a huge increase of people seeking free meals at its tables all week, so a special initiative through Steele's and KVOE is coming at a good time for the charity.
Director Lee Alderman says residents have been flocking to Abundant Harvest for meals because of cuts to the federal SNAP, or food stamp, program.
This also comes at a time when funds are generally starting to run low anyways.
Country 101.7 FM had a live broadcast from Steele's on Friday with the retailer matching 15 percent of all purchase proceeds and financial donations, up to $1,000, through Sunday and handing that amount to the charity.
Abundant Harvest provides free meals four days a week, no questions asked, with folks also receiving a weekend food pack. For information, call Alderman at 794-2977.
