Former Emporia business CFO facing federal embezzlement charge

The former chief financial officer at an Emporia manufacturing firm has been charged with embezzling more than $265,000 from the business.

According to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, 57-year-old Sandra Moore of Emporia, the former CFO at Sauder Custom Fabrication, faces one federal count of embezzlement.

Grissom says Moore allegedly began embezzling funds from Sauder Custom Fabrication in 2008, devising several means of funneling company money to her own account. Authorities allege Moore made unauthorized transfers from the company's disbursement account to her personal account, issued unauthorized checks and issued unauthorized-to-repay loans from her 401(k) account.

Moore faces a potential sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
