Hefty rain totals seen near Emporia

As expected, the week is starting wet.

Showers and embedded thunderstorms began moving across the KVOE listening area late Monday night through early Tuesday, with better than half an inch of rain falling at the KVOE studios through 6 am.

Totals as either recorded or called in:

KVOE studios: 0.60 inches
East Emporia: 0.30 inches
West Emporia: 0.85 inches
Allen area: 1 inch
Council Grove: 0.70 to 0.75 inches
Between Hartford and Olpe: 1.75 inches
Madison: 2 inches
Olpe area: 1.45 to 1.8 inches
Strong City: 1 inch

WIBW-TV meteorologist Drew Switzer expects a mainly dry Tuesday afternoon before rain chances increase again by Tuesday night. Showers and storms appear likely for Wednesday, with strong storms possible, but Halloween should be dry in time for the David Traylor Zoo's Boo in the Zoo and evening trick-or-treaters.
