The participation numbers are down from last year, but the interest is still high in the city of Emporia's third annual Tree Sweep that starts early Monday.
City intern Billy Garner says about 125 residences are on the list for tree and brush pickup, and he says there was a crush of phone calls just before Thursday afternoon's cutoff.
Over 170 residences were on the list last year.
Pickups begin around 7 am Monday. Solid Waste and Horticulture Department personnel and vehicles will be collecting limbs, dead or dying trees and general brush through Wednesday. Trash of any sort will not be accepted.
