No action is planned Wednesday, but the USD 251 North Lyon County Facilities Planning Committee is set to unveil its recommendations on the best way to handle the district's facility needs at a special meeting.
Committee chair Nancy Wells has said a modern facility could cost up to $30 million, including athletic structures. Full renovations for the existing buildings could cost up to $23 million, but Wells says a new building could save the district over $900,000 a year through reducing salaries, transportation, utility and maintenance costs.
Board members have been touring facilities across the district in recent weeks, viewing firsthand issues like space, leaks, ventilation and building security. At some point, the district faces the choice of massive renovations, a partial consolidation of buildings or a full consolidation to a single K-12 facility.
Future direction on district buildings is not the only item on the agenda. Board members have an executive session planned on personnel matters.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the district board office in Americus.
