Area hospitals announce projects, upgrades

Coffey Health System is embarking on a health research project Monday.

Students from the Fort Hays State Docking Institute are calling residents of Coffey and Woodson counties to measure patient satisfaction and help the hospital set future direction.

The phone surveys follow a series of community meetings in both counties last month. Coffey County residents said they want Coffey Health System to promote health, wellness and chronic disease prevention; improve access to information and to improve communication and collaboration through the local health care system. Woodson County residents want economic development and senior care issues at the top of their list.

Equipment addition helping Morris County Hospital chemotherapy patients

Meanwhile, Morris County Hospital is adding equipment so chemotherapy patients don't have to go elsewhere for said treatments.

A chemotherapy fume hood was funded in part by the Morris County Hospital Auxiliary, allowing staffers at the hospital to mix and administer prescribed drugs. Coupled with the addition of two nurses, the hospital says the purchase will let patients save travel time and expense.
