Lawmakers visiting ESU campus Tuesday

Emporia State administrators are hosting state lawmakers with some financial clout next week.

Members of the Kansas House Appropriations and Senate Ways and Means committees are taking a bus tour of Regents universities.

While in Emporia, lawmakers will take part in Q-and-A sessions led by President Dr. Michael Shonrock. They will also take campus tours, hear testimonials and take open forum questions before they depart.

Emporia State had its budget cut nearly $3 million dollars for the current and upcoming fiscal years. The university obtained a 6.5-percent tuition increase to help offset the cut, and research is ongoing on other adjustments to come if needed.

Presentations will begin in the noon hour, with the first Q-and-A session at 1 pm.
