Tax revenues were a bit short of expected for the state with the August report now in.
Revenue receipts were flat, meaning the totals were about $4 million short of projections. For the fiscal year to date -- July and August -- overall tax revenues are short of projections by $2.4 million.
Individual income taxes were short of estimates, but the Department of Revenue says the state actually collected over $10 million more than it did in that category for August 2013 even with the tax rate dipping from 6.3 to 6.15 percent. Sales taxes also beat estimates by $1.6 million.
