The Flint Hills Regional Council is coming to Emporia for a day-long retreat Friday.
A highlight will be a strategic review as the group plans coordinated initiatives to increase economic development while balancing those with the area's natural features and agricultural economic activities.
Breakout sessions, budget matters and environmental assessment data is also scheduled.
The retreat will be at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Regional Council had actively pursued Emporia and Lyon County for membership, adding both earlier this year.
