Emporia High senior Jennifer Lieurance has been named as this year's winner in the second annual KVOE-Dr. Pepper 10 Tuition Scholarship Giveaway on Tuesday.
Lieurance has been an AVID student at Emporia High for four years. She is also involved in the Spartan Pride color guard and is a tutor at Emporia Middle School.
Lieurance currently lives with her sister and her husband as she tries to graduate Emporia High with honors. After high school, she plans to pursue a psychology degree, perhaps at Pittsburg State, and she plans to focus on child therapy to help children who may be dealing with some of the challenges she has faced in her life.
Lieurance will receive a $500 scholarship. Over 200 applications were submitted for the second year of the program. High school juniors and senior were nominated by family, friends, teachers and education staffers who felt the students were deserving of scholarship money.
