After winning last week's primary, U.S. House Democratic candidate Jim Sherow is touring the Big First Congressional District, and made a stop at the Lyon County Fair as part of that tour Wednesday.
Sherow faces incumbent Tim Huelskamp in the general election Nov. 4. Sherow says the biggest issues of the Big 1st are economic and representative.
Sherow is a one-time mayor of Manhattan and has also served as the Kansas state historian while a professor at K-State. He's hoping to be the first Democrat to represent the Big First in over 50 years. He says his students have also expressed their concerns and encouragement, as well as some anecdotes.
Sherow's next big stop will be in Hays this weekend.
