Palafox scheduled for initial hearing on Short Stop robbery, Emporia High theft

The teenager who allegedly robbed the Short Stop convenience store in north central Emporia last month and stole drugs fromt he Emporia High nurse's office on Easter morning has a hearing in Lyon County District Court on Tuesday afternoon.


Arturo Palafox is set for what's called an initial hearing at 3:30 pm. The 15-year-old is charged with felony aggravated robbery, felony theft and felony burglary of a vehicle in the Short Stop robbery July 20 along with two counts of misdemeanor theft.

Palafox has also been charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft and criminal damage in the Emporia High theft case back in April.

Authorities say they cleared over 15 theft-related incidents, including the Emporia High drug theft, during the Short Stop investigation.
