The United Way opens up is 76th year of raising funds for community partners with the Pacesetter kickoff Thursday evening.
Spokesperson Jennell Tebbetts was on KVOE's Newsmaker segment Thursday. The Pacesetters last year raised $335,000, or better than 60 percent of the overall total, so the group's importance can't be overstated. Tebbetts says businesses don't have to be big to be involved.
Plans are still developing for the general campaign kickoff next month. Tebbetts says there will be what she calls "exciting changes" coming to the drive chair approach. Those will be announced later.
The United Way Pacesetter kickoff event is from 5 to 7 pm at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Flint Hills as part of the Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event schedule. For information, call the United Way at 342-7564 or the Chamber at 342-1600.
