Blast of scorching heat returns for Friday and Saturday

The heat is on again Friday and Saturday, and you don't need Glenn Frey singing to notice. Area high temperatures are expected to either approach or hit 100 degrees and heat indices past 105 both days.

TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says you need to listen to your body the next couple days -- just like earlier in the week when highs got up around 100 and heat indices closed on 110.

If you're transporting children or pets, make sure to check the back seat after reaching your destination -- a Wichita youngster died after being left for two hours in a car Thursday, when temperatures were about 10 degrees cooler than they are expected for Friday and Saturday. Also, check on your elderly neighbors to see how they are doing.

Heat advisories are in place for the area starting at noon Friday and may be reissued for Saturday. We'll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
