Indictment alleges Butler County couple stole $1.5M from Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America

A couple from Butler County now faces a federal indictment for allegedly stealing from a regional company with a local presence.

43-year-old Brent Shyrock and 50-year-old Lori Shyrock are charged with four counts of mail fraud for allegedly stealing more than $1.5 million from Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, which operates senior living facilities in Emporia and 13 other cities across Kansas.

The indictment from the U.S. Attorney's Office alleges the couple set up four fictitious companies to submit fraudulent invoices to several companies, including Presbyterian Manor, for new or replacement equipment while Brent Shyrock was the Presbyterian Manor information systems director.

If convicted, the Shyrocks face 20 years in federal prison and up to $1 million in fines.
