Lyon County Fair ahead with new schedule, same emphasis on fun

The 2014 Lyon County Fair is almost here.

The Friends of 4-H picnic is coming next Thursday, and after that 4-H exhibits and livestock shows start in earnest. Lyon County 4-H agent Corinne Patterson says exhibits start July 25 and continue through Aug. 5.

The Anderson Building will open Aug. 2 for public viewing and closes Aug. 7.

Grandstand events begin with ATV races Aug. 2 and continue through Aug. 16 with the demolition derby. Other highlights include mixed martial arts Aug. 9 and the Blackhawk concert Aug. 12. The grandstand events have been uncoupled from the exhibit and livestock show schedule because of conflicts with the carnival schedule.
