Quenemo man now awaits sentencing after bank robbery guilty plea

A Quenemo man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery in Franklin County.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 39-year-old Robert Martin admitted being part of the robbery at Goppert State Service Bank in Pomona on March 19. Martin says he and co-defendant Caleb Jeffcoat, age 26 of Quenemo, drove to the bank, with Martin giving Jeffcoat a mask and BB gun and Jeffcoat then robbing a teller.

Jeffcoat is awaiting sentencing. Fellow co-defendant Christel Collins, age 38 of Quenemo, is awaiting trial.

Investigators used video surveillance from nearby businesses for identification.

A sentencing date for Martin has not been announced. Martin faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
