Cooler temperatures haven't slowed attendance at Jones Aquatic Center so far this year. Actually, Aquatic Center Supervisor Melinda Erwin says this year's numbers have drenched last year's.
Erwin says that's a 40 percent increase over 2013, and the trend for the rest of the summer looks promising. Since opening day this year, the Aquatic Center has seen a little over 8,000 people splashing in. Erwin says a change in hours and new activities have helped the atmosphere of the facility, and is helping bring people in.
For July 4th, the Aquatic Center's hours will be 12 noon to 6pm. There will be no family swim, however admission is half-off for everyone throughout the day. Also, there will be no water fitness classes Saturday morning.
