More rain, no severe weather for area

Area residents avoided a severe weather threat for the third straight day, and now our forecast is stabilizing at least up until Independence Day.

Thunderstorms developed along a cold front during the evening hours, bringing heavy rain to much of Chase and Greenwood counties initially before moderate rain spread to Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties early Tuesday. After a hot, sticky weekend, TV-13 meteorologist Drew Switzer says we can enjoy much milder conditions for most of the upcoming week.

East Emporia: 0.20 inches

The next chance of rain is Friday night through the weekend, but it appears to be a slight chance all three days. We'll keep you updated on KVOE and KVOE.com.
