Motorcycles and their riders made a quick blast through the Flint Hills Saturday as part of Danny's Soldiers Ride.
The first-annual event is a benefit for Danny Williams, who was diagnosed with ALS five years ago. Organizer Wesley Wells says this might be the last year Danny gets to ride, so they're trying to help him all they can.
Riders began their day at Williams Automotive, then left and headed for Lebo to Sower's Pub and Grub, next to Leroy's Bar and BBQ, then Legends in Melvern, and made one more stop in Lebo before ending the day in Emporia.
The Walk for ALS is coming up in August; all proceeds will go toward researching a cure for the disease. Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS affects muscle function through the brain and spinal cord.
