A Texas man faces a federal indictment for alleged drug activity in Lyon County earlier this year.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 22-year-old Ernesto Ortiz of San Elizario, Texas, was arrested in Lyon County on Valentine's Day for unspecified actions. Ortiz has been formally charged with one count of cocaine possession with intent to distribute.
If convicted, Ortiz could be sentenced to five to 40 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $5 million. The case was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency.
