The driver, William Golden of Jacksonville, Fla., safely unhooked the semi from the trailer. Fire crews arrived quickly and put out the initial fire, only to have the fire rekindle inside the trailer. Firefighters then began removing about one-sixth of the dog treats before getting the fire under control.

The dog food was headed from Topeka to Fort Worth, Texas. The trailer and load are considered total losses of $75,000.
