Moderate rainfall has graced the KVOE listening area yet again.
Seven-tenths of an inch of rain has fallen early Thursday morning at KVOE, with just over half an inch falling at the Emporia Municipal Airport.
Emporia: 0.70 to 0.75 inches
Allen: 0.5 inches
Americus: 0.45 to 0.75 inches
Lyndon: 1.3 inches
Southeast Lyon County: 0.48 inches
Thorndale area: 0.75 inches
So far, there hasn't been any noticeable effect on Lyon County's gravel roads, especially those along the Cottonwood west of Emporia and the Neosho east of town after several were flooded by heavy rains earlier in the week. All county roads are open as of last word.
Our rain is ending for now, according to TV-13 meteorologist Drew Switzer. Rain chances resume by late Saturday afternoon and continue into the middle of next week.
Area residents had already picked up 1.5 to 3.5 inches of rain earlier this week. Here at KVOE, we have now received over 7.7 inches of rain since our overall weather pattern became more wet May 23.
