Emporia State students -- and others -- spent either part or all of their weekend at the Didde Catholic Campus Center as part of the annual Sleep in a Box fundraiser.
KVOE News reporter AJ Dome slept in a box with students from Emporia State on Saturday night, speaking with several students about their reasons for participating.
Caroline Trausch, junior biology and pre-physician assistant, was in charge of food donations during the event. She says an event like this helps reveal the compassionate side of people, but it also jars people because it take many people out of their personal comfort zones.
All of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Emporia Rescue Mission. Initial estimates have around $1,600 raised.
