Law enforcement officers from across the state are training on two wheels in Emporia this week.
This is the 20th year of bicycle safety training for officers from various departments, ranging from local deputies and officers to Capitol Police. Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says it's fitting that, for the 20th year, there are 20 participants in the program.
Koelsch says he was one of two officers who helped start the program back in 1993, when he was with the Emporia Police Department.
Sgt. Robbie Turner has been involved in the program since 2004, and became a bike instructor about five years ago. He says it can be beneficial in many ways.
The training program goes until Thursday this week.
