Civil War activities kick off this week at Emporia Public Library

The Emporia Public Library will be hosting a season of Civil War exhibits and attractions, starting this Thursday.

"Abe and Mary: A Family Portrait" is a theatrical presentation of Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd-Lincoln, as performed by Herschel and Jacque Stroud.

Adult Services Coordinator Lynnete Olsen says their interpretation of the Lincolns is based on a photo album.

"Abe and Mary" is at 6:30pm Thursday at the Library.

The Civil War 150 Exhibition Project was made possible by a grant in conjunction with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the National Endowment of the Humanities, and the Kansas Humanities Council. Throughout this summer and fall, the Library will be hosting Civil War exhibits, book and film displays, and Reader's Theater performances.
