ESU confers degrees upon nearly 900 students

Smiles abounded at both White Auditorium and Albert Taylor Hall on Saturday as Emporia State University held spring commencement activities at both locations.

Ed O'Malley, the director of the Kansas Leadership Center, told undergraduates they are called to lead regardless of whether they have a corner office or a cubicle.

ESU has been in a partnership with the Leadership Center for roughly 18 months, starting with 15 general education sections this past spring and then spreading to other disciplines. O'Malley calls the ESU partnership a classic example of how well programs like this can develop.

Emporia State conferred degrees on an estimated 600 undergraduates and another 300 doctorate, specialist and master's degrees.
