Next week, the Emporia Police Department will be testing a new outdoor warning siren tone.
On Wednesday, May 21, Emporia PD will be testing a new siren tone, with the hopes that this will make outdoor warnings easier to hear. They will also be testing the voice sirens located near Las Casitas Park and the water park west of the Turnpike.
The normal monthly testing of the outdoor warning system will continue to be the first Wednesday of each month.
Emporia Police says they would appreciate any feedback from the public on whether this new tone is an improvement over the current monotone alert sound. To give any feedback, contact dispatcher Ashley Welsh at 343-4226.
