There is good news on the unemployment front across the KVOE listening area. The state's unadjusted figures have all area counties with lower jobless figures from March to April.
The state's unadjusted numbers put Emporia's April unemployment rate at 4.8 percent, down nearly a point from the 5.6 percent recorded for March. Lyon County's rate is also 4.8 percent, down from 5.5 percent in March.
Across the area, Wabaunsee County now has the lowest unemployment rate at 3.8 percent, supplanting Chase County for that designation. Every county in the area is at 5 percent or below, with Osage County at 5 percent.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment was at 4.8 percent for April, down a hair from the 4.9 percent in March.
