Non-life-threatening injuries follow hunting accident in Osage County

A Franklin County man had a painful hunting accident in Osage County on Saturday morning.

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn says deputies, Overbrook firefighters and Osage EMS were sent to the 20100 block of South Shawnee Heights, a couple miles south of Overbrook, shortly after 7 am. They discovered 28-year-old Justin Smith of Ottawa had a gunshot wound to his right foot.

Dunn says the shooting was accidental. Smith has been taken to an undisclosed Topeka hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
