3D Challenge shifts to Manhattan for final round

Emporia's first-ever 3D Challenge culminates in Manhattan on Wednesday.

Three local teams -- Rock Creek Ostrich Ranch, a working ostrich ranch; Williams Web Development, a software system for event management; and Biker, a bike kiosk rental system -- are going head-to-head against three teams from Kansas State University. Teams will make their presentations from 1 to 3 pm with an awards ceremony immediately afterward.

The competition is the final step in Emporia's Dream It, Design It, Develop It Challenge, a joint venture of Emporia State, the ESU School of Business, Flint Hills Technical College, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and ESB Financial. Over 30 teams from ESU and the tech college developed business plans for their entrepreneurial ideas. Rock Creek won the top local prize at the 3D Gala earlier this month.
