Work continues to bring a regional transportation network to Kansas.
Full implementation may be a year away or a bit longer. Lyon County Aging Services Director Doug Stueve updated county commissioners during their study meeting Wednesday, saying two related concerns now are scheduling and dispatch. Stueve says one dispatch option would have local runs scheduled by LCAT with regional runs through the Kansas Department of Transportation. Two other options have the runs handled by the same facility.
Cost estimates are a later priority. There are some concerns the state may start with a 70 percent match, only to lower its percentage and force the transportation regions to fill the gaps later.
Planning has actually been ongoing for several years, with LCAT in a partnership with Wabaunsee County and in negotiations with other neighboring counties.
