Diabetes is fast becoming an epidemic in America, and Newman Regional Health has scheduled its fifth annual Diabetes Health Fair for Thursday to get out information about the disease.
Registered dietician Wilma Malone says diabetes now affects a big percentage of the general population, both nationwide and here at home.

Malone will have talks about healthy eating and complications of an unhealthy diet. Information about prescriptions will be on hand as will free blood pressure and blood sugar checks and foot screenings. The featured speaker is Newman Regional Health Dr. Tim Harris, who will speak about how diabetes affects wound care.
The health fair goes from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Bowyer Community Building.
