City to benefit from housing rehabilitation grant

The city of Emporia is receiving a $400,000 grant from the state's Community Development Block Grant program for housing rehabilitation.

City Housing Specialist Jeff Lynch tells KVOE News the grant was awarded after the city looked through its current housing situation.

Twenty homes currently owned and occupied by low-income residents can be rehabbed. The application process is starting right away.

Applicants need to live in the city limits and also meet certain income criteria. Applicants also need proof of all income in the home, taxable or not, along with proof of insurance and proof real estate taxes are current. For information, call Lynch at 343-4285.
