As the sun rose over the Lyon County Fairgrounds, about 200 folks in their cars gathered for the Messiah Lutheran Church's drive-in Easter Sunday service.
The drive-in service is broadcast every year on 14 KVOE and KVOE.com. Worship services began the night prior at churches across Emporia and in the KVOE listening area, as folks celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier says the drive-in service is a local tradition that people have grown up with.
Coffee and cinnamon rolls were provided for a goodwill donation, and the weather remained clear and calm with light breezes and temperatures near 60 degrees.
