Rain chances appear to be increasing through end of April

Drought remains firmly in place across the KVOE listening area despite some heavy rains near Emporia a week ago.

An estimated inch or more of rain fell across Chase, Morris and Greenwood counties on April 13, but other places like Emporia picked up less than half an inch.

National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Gargan says the pattern is shifting, at least for the next two weeks -- which is good because it gives us more chances of rain. However...

The U.S. Drought Monitor still has severe drought across Chase County and small portions of Greenwood and Morris counties. Lyon and all other surrounding counties are in moderate drought.
