The latest Kansas unemployment report was just released, and numbers for the KVOE listening area have increased slightly.
Lyon County's unemployment rate sits at 5.5 percent, unchanged from the last report. Emporia's jobless rate is at 6.4 percent, down from 6.7 percent as last reported.
Neighboring counties also saw increases in unemployment. Chase County saw an increase from 3.3 percent to 4.2 percent. Osage County now has the highest unemployment rate in the region, at 6.5 percent. Morris County's rate remains unchanged at 5.7 percent, while Greenwood County's rate sits near the state average at 5.2 percent.
State jobless rates were unchanged for March this year, steady at 4.9 percent. Kansas gained 17,200 seasonally adjusted private sector jobs, an increase of 1.6 percent since last year. Since last month, Kansas gained 2,200 private sector jobs, an increase of 0.2 percent.
