Pair of dogs finding new homes through Adopt-A-Dog event

Two dogs had the adoption process started Saturday as part of the first Adopt-A-Dog event of 2014 at Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply.

Cargill, the Emporia Animal Shelter, Bluestem and KVOE came together so area residents could see some of the dogs up for adoption. Animal Shelter Director Peggy Derrick says the shelter is bursting at the seams with available pets, but she also tells KVOE News adoptions have picked up after a troublesome run of distemper last year.

Cargill plant manager Rick Lovelady was pleased to link up with the Animal Shelter, KVOE and Bluestem after a successful run of Adopt-a-Dog events last year.
