Governor discussing higher education funding at ESU stop Monday

Gov. Sam Brownback has scheduled an appearance in Emporia early next week.

The governor will stop briefly at Emporia State University to speak about higher education funding. President Dr. Michael Shonrock and Associated Student Government leaders will also be on hand.

The event will start around 11:20 am at the Memorial Union Skyline Dining room.

Emporia State stands to gain back roughly $1 million in salary cap cuts from the 2013 legislative session if the governor signs a bill largely aimed at K-12 public education funding passed by lawmakers Sunday. ESU could also receive $1 million to start an honors college program if the bill is signed.
