Area school boards are having separate school board meetings Wednesday night.
The Emporia School Board meets at 7 pm at Mary Herbert. During the legislative update, discussion is likely on the short-term and long-term effects of Sunday's education funding bill as passed by lawmakers. The bill adds $130 million to address equity matters as mandated by the Kansas Supreme Court, but it also removes teacher tenure and due process.
Scheduled discussions include possible approval of security cameras and more talk about elementary and high school handbooks.
Meanwhile, the South Lyon County school board is meeting at 7 pm Wednesday in Hartford. Enrollment fees, contract negotiations and potential handbook changes will be discussed.
