Dog-N-Jog raises money for scholarship

The third annual Dog-N-Jog had almost ideal weather for a 5-K run-walk on Saturday.

The Newman-Kansas Association of Nursing students was pleased with the turnout. Organizer Ashley Griswold says there is a good foundation for growth down the road.

Seventy people participated, and 20 dogs made the rounds as well on the fitness trail north of Emporia High.

The run-walk this year honored Leslie Reiner, a one-time club member who died last year of breast cancer. Proceeds from the run and a decorated pink bra contest are going into a scholarship in Reiner's honor. Totals won't be released until later this month.
