Arson declared in hay barn fires

The hay barn fires near Reading early Wednesday were no accident.

Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope officially called the fires arson in an interview with KVOE News Thursday.

The Sheriff's Office requested help from the Kansas Fire Marshal's Office after blazes were discovered in the 2400 block of Road "V" and the 2300 block of Road "Y" within 50 minutes of each other. Both barns were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.
