Hootin' Hornet Hoedown two-steps into Webb Hall

Tuesday's Hootin' Hornet Hoedown paired local seniors with student athletes at Emporia State University for two-stepping and other fancy footwork.

Seniors age 55 and older get to dance with students free of charge at the Hoedown, held in the Memorial Union Webb Hall. The event is organized by Emporia State's Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and sponsored by numerous local companies and organizations, including KVOE, Holiday Resort, and Designs by Sharon.

Committee President and track athlete Nikki Wetstein said everyone involved in the senior prom loves it, especially the students, who come to the dance well-prepared.

Live country music was provided by Unchained Band. It was Anita Mesecher's first time at the senior prom; needless to say, she had a good time.
